Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Samantarai, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and Founder President of Indian Climate Congress is a renowned personality in the field of soil and water conservation engineering, water management, ecology, environment and climate change. He served 30 years at different capacities as Professor in Agricultural Engineering, Chief Scientist, Associate Director of Research and Dean Students’ Welfare in OUAT Bhubaneswar. He was Director of Awards of Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers for the period from 2015-2017.
Prof. Samantarai retired from OUAT services on 31st Jan. 2013. After his retirement, he served as Chief Engineer & Director WALMI, Govt. of Odisha, Dean of Research, Affinity Business School, Bhubaneswar, Principal, KITE (BPUT), Rourkela, Member, Post Graduate Studies, Nagland University. Dr. Samantarai was a visiting Professor to many universities at U.S.A. viz., The University of Texas; State University of Science & Technology, Ames; State University of New Jersey; American Society of Agricultural Engineers and University of Maryland during his service career. He has published more than 200 research papers in various national and international journals and also 250 popular scientific articles in Odia Dailies. He is also the author of 9 books and attended more than 500 national and international conferences in different scientific and engineering fields. He is the Chief Editor of the journal “Climate Change and World Peace” and has conducted 11 numbers of National Seminars in field of ecology, environment and climate change as the Chairman of National Organizing Committee and published 11 numbers of proceedings of national seminars as Chief Editor. He is the recipient of 21 numbers of National and International Awards and is a life member of 41 scientific and technical societies in India and abroad.
Moreover Dr. Samantarai is a full time dedicated worker of Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) and in charge of Karyabaha of Bal-Ganesh Pravt Sakha of Mahanadivihar Cuttack, Odisha.
