Prof. H.N. Thatoi is the Director of the Centre for Industrial Biotechnology Research (CIBR) at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan, Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. With a distinguished academic and research career in industrial biotechnology, his expertise spans microbiology, bioengineering, and the application of biotechnology in industries such as healthcare, agriculture, and environmental sustainability.
Prof. H.N. Thatoi is a highly respected academic and researcher with a distinguished career in the fields of biotechnology, bioinformatics, and microbiology, including industrial biotechnology. He has authored over 350 research publications and more than 30 books, contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge in these areas. Prof. Thatoi has mentored numerous PhD and MSc students in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Engineering disciplines, shaping the future of research and education in these fields.
Throughout his career, Prof. Thatoi has held various prestigious academic positions. He is retired professor from the Department of Biotechnology at Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University (MSCBU), and as an adjunct professor at Fakir Mohan University. He was also the Reader and Head of the Biotechnology Department at CET, BPUT, and an Assistant Professor at the Orissa University of Agricultural Technology (OUAT).
In addition to his academic roles, Prof. Thatoi has worked as a Scientist at the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation in Chennai, contributing to significant research in sustainable agriculture in Mangroves research in Odisha. His outstanding contributions to science and education have earned him prestigious recognitions, including the Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award from the Government of Odisha and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Microbiology Society of India.
