Submit your book proposal

Newredmars Education welcomes new book proposals in all the major areas in which we publish.

If you intend to convert your PhD thesis into a book, propose an undergraduate textbook, develop a teaching resource, create a handbook, compile a scholarly reference book, or write for a professional audience, we welcome your enquiries. This is to let you know that we do not publish fiction book.

What to consider before submitting your book proposal

Before contacting Newredmars Education, consider the following questions to obtain:

  • Does your novel (new, interesting, innovative and/or compelling) concept possess originality?
  • Is there a distinct demand for your book among an academic or professional readership, and what aspects of your book concept might appeal to or be necessary for specific readers?
  • The idea behind your book should be interesting to people all over the world, right?
  • Why are you the best person to write this book? (Why do you know so much about this subject because of your study, experience, and background?)

Your book idea should be able to answer these questions, and you should have recently published work (for example, articles or papers in journals or other relevant academic or professional journals). Please get in touch with the chief Editor in your field as soon as possible. We also want to hear about ideas for edited collections that have a strong theme and high quality throughout all of the parts.

If the  Editor in chief thinks your idea is good and fits with our publishing guidelines, they will give you a book proposal to your subject area and book idea. This form will help you write down all the important details.

What a book proposal consists of

To put it simply, a book proposal is a document that gives an initial outline of a book or open access book project before the book text is finished. Please read our book proposal rules for a full list of what you need to include.

Research-level books are often published as part of an established series. Knowing what other books are out there in the same series can help you frame and build your proposal.

What happens after you submit your book proposal

A Editor in chief will first look over your proposal to see if your book fits with their publishing program (or “list”). If your editor agrees, your plan will go through an outside peer review process where experts give you feedback on the quality and scope of your work. After that, it will be sent to the Publishing Committee (or Editorial Board) for final approval. A publishing contract will be sent to you if your book idea is accepted.

Read our outline of the publishing process to learn more.

Publication Ethics Follow to COPE Guideline

Newredmars Education Follow COPE resources for guidance

Statement of Purpose

We strongly believe that the Humanities, the Social Sciences, and International Law are important fields of study for solving the world’s problems today. Because of this belief, we work hard to give our authors the best service and tools for getting their study out there. We want to help scholars by giving them access to the best study tools and reference books in their fields. This will help discovery and learning move forward. The relevance and excellent quality of the works we publish is essential to the long-term viability of our business.

Declaration of Adherence

To ensure the research integrity of our publications, and thus achieve our goal of providing superior service to scholars, Newredmars Education collaborates closely with authors and editors to promote adherence to the core principles of publication ethics. Also we follow to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and explore COPE’s materials on their website (https://publicationethics.org/). All study materials, archival materials, and supporting files (including but not limited to interviews, images, data, infographics, audio and video, and facsimiles), whether submitted to a peer-reviewed publication (book series, journal, image book or major reference work) or a primary source online collection, must adhere to COPE’s ethical standards. For the benefit of our writers, editors, reviewers, readers, and staff, we have compiled a list of the most serious ethical issues confronting academic publishing.

Visit the COPE website for a thorough discussion of specific cases of research misconduct and violations of publication ethics, as well as a wealth of tools to help you deal with them.

Authorship

Authorship can include both the person who comes up with a concept, finding, or idea and the person or people who make knowledge available to the public. Newredmars Education follows the same rules as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), available here. Only those who significantly contributed to the ideation, planning, execution, or analysis of the reported study should receive authorship. List everyone who made a significant contribution as co-authors. When others have contributed significantly to the study project, acknowledge them or list them as contributors. It is okay for authors to use artificial intelligence (AI) and/or large language models (LLMs) in the preparation and writing of their manuscripts as long as they follow the COPE standards and are fully responsible for their research. Get our full stance on how authors and editors can use AI and LLMs here. The corresponding author is responsible for making sure that the paper or study materials have all the right co-authors and none of the wrong ones. They should also ensure that every co-author has viewed the final version of the paper, consented to its publication, and acknowledged its acceptance.

What kinds of research misconduct and publication ethics violations there are :

Violations of the duty of care

Some examples are breaking privacy without permission, not telling people about and getting their permission before exposing participants (like subjects, researchers, and associates) to physical, emotional, intellectual, or reputational risks and dangers and not protecting them from these risks and dangers, not following the law and ethics when it comes to caring for human and animal subjects, human organs or tissue, or the environment, and not showing respect when showing dead bodies or sacred sites. See COPE guideline  for information about the legal and moral standards for studies that use people or animals as subjects.

Censorship

The suppression of any text, arguments, supporting materials (audio or video), statistics, facts, reporting, citations, or any other materials due to potential personal, professional, institutional, or governmental reprisals rather than merit or intellectual rigour. Self-censorship is broadly acknowledged by the academic community as a variant of censorship.

Conflicts of Interest

When two or more parties have different goals, concerns, priorities, and benefits, it’s often because of their affiliation or official position. This is especially true when one or more parties stands to gain financially or in terms of image from the differences. The person with a conflict of interest is also not able to fairly handle the real or possible bad effects of the conflict of interest on the other parties. Editors, reviews, and authors have a moral duty to tell readers about any conflicts of interest they may have.

Discriminatory and Harassing Research Methodologies and Terminology

Different treatment and behaviour towards a person or group of people because of their race, colour, national origin, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), age, marriage or parental status, disability, sexual orientation, genetic information, or how they were born.

Fabrication

fabrication of information, such as data, citations, quotes, transcripts, archival papers, and audio and visual supporting materials, that is meant to falsely promote, diminish, or mislead in some other way.

Neglecting to Recognise Sources

This type of copying includes all of them (see below). Also includes leaving out sources that can’t be used again, whether on purpose or by accident.

Not Meeting Your Legal and Professional Duties

Don’t follow the rules and restrictions set by professional groups, study funders, or study Ethics Committees .

Falsification

Adding to, taking away from, or distorting information (such as data, citations, quotes, transcripts, archival papers, and audio and visual supporting materials) in order to falsely promote, diminish, or mislead in some other way.

Ideological or Political Bias

If someone has explicit or unspoken support for or opposition to another school of thought or tendency, or if they treat another school of thought or tendency differently, it can lead to the subjective evaluation of merit being put aside in favour of a personal and biassed evaluation.

Bad use of logical fallacies, or practices and language that cause harm

using unfair arguments or using hateful and inflammatory language and arguments to attack and hurt someone’s credibility, legitimacy, or image.

Misrepresentation of Authorship

Inflating, minimising, or leaving out the input of one or more parties to a publication.
• Ghostwriting is when someone contributes, in whole or in part, to a publication knowing that they will not be recognised and their identity will be kept secret. One of the main reasons people hire ghostwriters is to avoid being accused of having a conflict of interest or to be able to support controversial ideas. It’s also possible that this is done to help the well-known author(s) get more respect.
Marketplace authorship is when people buy or sell the right to write academic papers, even if the papers have already been accepted for publication, usually to improve their image or get money.
• Giving honorary authorship to senior, often executive, or influential members of your department or the institution where the study took place who may have helped you get funding and may be able to do so again.
• Gift authorship: putting a senior or junior coworker on a paper with the clear or unspoken agreement that they will do the same at some point (often to make their publication list look better).
• Guest authorship: Adding senior or well-known authors to try to increase the chances of publication and/or the effect of the publication.
• Forcible authorship: A senior researcher makes a (usually) younger researcher add an honorary, gift, or guest author.
• Authorship rules that are agreed upon by scientists from all fields have been set by the Council of Science Editors.

Misrepresentation of Qualifications and/ or Experience

Providing deliberate false information about one’s educational and professional history, experience, activities, connections, memberships, associations, degrees, or certificates.

Multiple Manuscript Submission

Submitting the same material to many publishers, or even multiple publications within the same publisher, without complete disclosure.

Plagiarism

The use of another person’s words, ideas, methods, results, or artwork as one’s own (without proper citation).

• Self-plagiarism is the use of one’s own words, ideas, methods, results, or artwork without proper citation.

• Compression plagiarism1 is the distillation and recycling of the words, ideas, methods, results, or artwork from a much lengthier work without proper citation. This ethical transgression is concealed under the guise of concentration.

• Translation plagiarism: The use of words, ideas, methods, results, or artwork from a work written in a foreign language without proper citation. The concealment of this ethical infraction is based on interpretational and grammatical differences.

Pseudonyms

Using a fictitious name to conceal one’s identity. Pseudonyms are frequently used for a variety of reasons, including discussing/promoting one’s own work, concealing authorship of hoax articles, concealing authorship of unpopular or contentious articles, and concealing one’s identity from a specific editor. All of these motivations are inappropriate and constitute violations of publication ethics due to accountability, accuracy, the appearance of interest, and the impact on downstream literature.

Undisclosed Errors in Published Work

Failure to notify errors found after publication to the publisher and/or editor. Depending on the circumstances, it may be required to issue an erratum or corrigendum.
Undisclosed research misconduct and/or violations of publication ethics in published work.
Failure to report cases of research misconduct and/or publishing ethics violations discovered after publication to the publisher and/or editor. It will probably be essential to issue a retraction.

Unprovenanced Artifacts

When publishing with Newredmars Education authors must follow the relevant society policies of their field when presenting ancient artefacts, especially if it’s the first time, but not always.

Furthermore:

The authors of studies that used people as subjects must confirm that the subjects signed a Statement of Informed Consent and that the information in the publication does not reveal the subjects’ identities. The authors of studies that used people as subjects in medical research must also confirm that the research followed the rules set out in the Declaration of Helsinki. The authors of studies that used animals as subjects must show that the procedures used were in line with the NRC Guide for C If the way the experiments are done raises specific ethical or welfare concerns, the Editor will get more advice from experts before making a choice. The author guidelines for the relevant journal or book series will have more detailed rules about how to write about people and animals.
