Dr. L. Ponoop Prasad Patro is a biotechnologist and scientific researcher with a robust interdisciplinary background in bioinformatics and molecular biophysics, focused on advancing research in infectious diseases.
He earned his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from IIT Hyderabad, where he specialized in in silico modelling of biomolecular structures, microbial genome and proteome analysis, and the development of interactive web-based bioinformatics tools. From scripting in Python and Bash to modeling with CHARMM and visualizing with VMD and PyMOL, Dr. Patro seamlessly integrates computational power and biological insight—leveraging tools like HMMER, MAFFT, BLAST, and Xplor-NIH on high-performance Linux platforms to drive impactful discoveries.
Currently, Dr. Patro is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Lehigh University, USA, where he continues to explore the frontiers of molecular interactions and structure-function relationships in biomolecules using molecular dynamics. Before this, he served as an Assistant Professor at NIST University, Odisha, and has contributed actively to academia through both teaching and mentoring.
With a strong foundation in interdisciplinary science, Dr. Patro has published in peer-reviewed journals and actively contributes to global scientific dialogue through his Scopus, ORCID, and Google Scholar platforms.
