Prof(Dr) Biswajit Rath

Dr. Biswajit Rath working as Professor and Head in Biotechnology, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University (Erstwhile North Orissa University), Baripada,Odisha. Soon after completion of M.Sc, he qualified GATE in 1992 and joined for pursuing PhD at Utkal University under the supervision of a distinguished Phycologist Prof.S.P.Adhikary (Former Vice Chancellor, Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, Odisha) and was awarded PhD in 1997. Prof. Rath has published >75 research papers in different reputed peer reviewed national and international journals, published 15 conference proceedings, 08 popular articles and 11 book chapters. He has also published a book entitled “Algae-Nature’s Perfect food”. He attended 15 training programmes, >79 seminars and symposia in India and abroad. 05 Ph.D scholars are awarded under his supervision and 07 PhD scholars are continuing, 11 M.Phil; 70 M.Sc and 15 B.Sc students completed their thesis /dissertation research work under his supervision. In addition to this Prof. Rath has handled 03 minor and 04 major research projects funded by DST and UGC. He is also reviewer and editorial board member of many national and international journals. Prof. Rath is recipient of many awards like “Fellow Award” by Society for Applied Biotechnology (SAB), “Scientist of the Year-2016” by International Foundation for Environment and Ecology, Kolkata “Biodiversity Conservation Award 2019” by Confederation of Indian Universities, New Delhi, “Best Teacher Award-2022” by Microbiologists Society, India (MBSI), “SAS Eminent Fellow Members (SEFM)” by Scholars Academic and Scientific Society, “Outstanding Educator & Scholar Award” by National Foundation for Entrepreneurship Development (NFED),“Distinguish Professor Award-2023” by Institute of Researchers. Prof. Rath is also member of different professional societies like Orissa Botanical Society (OBS); Indian Botanical Society (IBS); Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI); National Environmental Science Academy (NESA); Seaweed Research and Utilization Association (SRUA);Indian Science Congress Association( ISCA);Society for Biotechnologists (India); Society for Applied Biotechnology (SAB); Biotechnological Society of Nepal (BSN) and Microbiology Society of India (MBSI). Prof. Rath visited countries like Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, Uzbekisthan etc as scientific delegate. Besides teaching and research Prof. Rath has also vast administrative experience at different capacities at MSCB University.
